源自中古英語 trīcen、trice、trise (“拉或推；掳走；偷窃”)，源自中古荷蘭語 trīsen (“升起”)[1]（现代荷蘭語 trijsen）或中古低地德語 trissen (“拉斜杠帆”)。之后词源不详。同源词包括丹麥語 trisse、tridse (“用滑轮拖”)、低地德語 trissen、tryssen、drisen、drysen、德語 trissen、triezen (“烦扰，折磨”)。[2]
