20世紀50年代，源自早期形式fuck the dog (「浪費時間」)（1935年）（對比fuck around），後面意思為「犯丟人的錯誤」（對比screw up、fuck up）。由湯姆·沃爾夫所著的《太空先鋒》（1979年）及其電影改編（1983年）普及開來。[1]
