[编辑]源自古英语 gǣstan (“惊吓,折磨”)的衍生词 + -lic与ghostly(中古英语中亦作“gastlich”)的异文合并。等价于ghast/gast + -ly。16世纪时因异文合并,带“gh”的拼写发展起来。
