源自praesciēns (预知的,预测的)拉丁語 praesciō (预知)的现在分词,源自prae- (“...之前”之意的前缀)(最终源自原始印歐語 *preh₂- (在...之前))+ sciō (知道)(最终源自原始印歐語 *skey- (解剖,分割))。与中古法語 prescient(现代形式法語 prescient (有先见之明的))、意大利語 presciente (有先见之明的)同源。[1]
