  • 义项5多用于古旧短语no boot to moot，如it's no boot to moot with her (“没有必要与她谈话/理论等”)。
  • 英国的北部乡村方言中，常搭配mell和spell。其中moot会取代talk和say；mell取代speak和converse； spell取代tell和relate。动词moot作“谈话，说”一意时，常用于说话方式类似（多为北部方言）的人群中，而当这些人与外人交流时，又会只使用say、speak、talk等。比如，母亲和自己小孩说话时通常会用moot、mell、spell等，但是与南方的外人说话时，并不会使用这些词。另外在正式语境下一般不能使用这些词。
