继承自古法语 biau cop，首次记录于约1210年。[1]等价于beau (“美好的、美丽的”) + coup (“打、击”)。后者也有“帮助喝汤或喝饮料”的意思，大约在1375年首次纪录，其意义可能触发或强化了 beaucoup 表示“很多”的意思。
