- 源自古突厥語族詞彙 *qurum (“保護，抵禦”)
- 源自古希臘語 κρημνοί (krēmnoí, “懸崖”)，希羅多德曾提及，源自κρημνός (krēmnós, “溝渠的邊緣”)。
