最早见于1402年,意为“凌乱的女人”。与荷兰语 slodder、瑞典语〈方〉 slata(懒女人)同源。 < 晚期中古英语 slutte < 中古英语 slut(泥)。更古的语源未知。另对比瑞典语 slutr(冻雨、不纯液体)。
