This template may be used in Wiktionary entries to format quotations from two versions of Robert Burton's The Anatomy of Melancholy (2nd edition, 1624; and 5th edition, 1638); the 1st edition (Oxford, Oxfordshire: […] Iohn Lichfield and Iames Short, for Henry Cripps, 1621; →OCLC) is not currently available online. The template can be used to link to online versions of the work at Google Books and the Internet Archive:

• 5th edition (1638).

• |5= or |page=, or |pages= – mandatory in some cases: the page number(s) quoted from. When quoting a range of pages, separate the first and last pages of the range with an en dash, like this: |pages=110–111.

5th edition (1638)

• |edition= – mandatory: if quoting from the 5th edition (1638) of the work, specify |edition=5th. If this parameter is omitted, the template defaults to the 2nd edition (1624).
• |5= or |page=, or |pages= – mandatory in some cases: the page number(s) quoted from. When quoting a range of pages, note the following:
  • Separate the first and last pages of the range with an en dash, like this: |pages=110–111.
  • You must also use |pageref= to specify the page number that the template should link to (usually the page on which the Wiktionary entry appears).

You must specify this information to have the template link to an online version of the work.

Both editions

• |1= or |chapter= – the title of the "chapter" or most specific portion (partition, section, member, or subsection) quoted from.
• |2= or |partition= – the partition quoted from in Arabic numerals, either |partition=1, |partition=2 or |partition=3.
• |3= or |section= – the section quoted from in Arabic numerals.
