不详,可能源自弃用词中古英语 gawren (“盯着”),其词源也不详,但可能源自古诺尔斯语 gá (“看”)或gaurr (“粗人”)(原始印欧语 *gʰow-rós,源自*gʰew- (“怒”))[1][2]。对比英语 gaw。
