詞源

didder的變體，源自中古英語 dideren (「發抖」)。對比中古英語 bididren、bididdren (「誘導，誤導」)，源自古英語 bedidrian、bedyderian (「誘導，誤導」)。

另，可能與*titeren的表達性質的濁化有關，源自原始日耳曼語 *titrōną。若如此，它則是teeter的同源對似詞，同源詞有古高地德語 zittarōn（德語 zittern）和古諾爾斯語 titra（法羅語 titra、冰島語 titra）。或者可能是一個無關的疊詞擬聲詞。
