詞源 1[編輯]

源自中古英語 courencowre,源自中古低地德語 kûren (潛伏;遊蕩)北日耳曼語支冰島語 kúra (打盹))。同源詞包括德語 kauern (蹲伏)荷蘭語 koeren (蹲守)塞爾維亞-克羅地亞語 kutriti (躺着縮成一團)瑞典語 kura (蜷縮)。與coward無關,其源自拉丁語。
