源自法语 mignon，源自中古法语 mignon (“爱人”)，源自古法语 mignon (“精致的，舒心的，温柔的”)，源自古法兰克语 *minnjo (“爱情，友情，喜爱，回忆”)，源自原始日耳曼语 *minþijō、*mindijō (“想念，关怀”)，源自原始印欧语 *men-、*mnā- (“想”)。与古高地德语 minnja (“爱，关怀，欲望，回忆”)、古撒克逊语 minnea (“爱”)同源。见mind。亦对比minion和荷兰语 minnen (“爱”)。
