源自中古英语 *hudelen,变化自(因 hudelshidels (藏匿处),见hiddle*huderenhoderen (盖住;压在一起;簇拥)中古英语 hudenhiden (藏起)的重复态,等价于hide +‎ -le和/或hide +‎ -er。对比低地德语 huderken (育雏;养育;照料;哄孩子睡觉)
