thus +‎ -ly,可追溯回19世纪,可能是教育水平高的写作家为了嘲讽假装斯文但没文化的人而造的词,[1]主要是嘲讽认为thus并非副词的错误观念。

虽然thusly已经渗透到了大众使用中,但一些人可能会认为这是错误用词。其可以使用thusthis way等词代替。[1]其起源于美国东部,且相比英式英语,在美式英语中更加常见,其“常用来取乐或表达讽刺反语”(“often used for amusement or to make an ironic point”)[2]
