词源[编辑]

借自法語 macabre，其词源不详，[1]但可能源自danse macabre —— 其作定语时为形容词 —— 一般认为是圣经名字Maccabees的变体，对比拉丁語 Chorea Machabaeorum。

另一理论认为其派生自西班牙語 macabro，源自阿拉伯語 مَقَابِر‎ (maqābir, “墓地”)，مَقْبَرَة‎ (maqbara)或مَقْبُرَة‎ (maqbura)的复数形式。而直接借用阿拉伯语复数的例子并不鲜见。
